The overhead crane operator online training program is designed to build the knowledge and decision-making skills workers need to operate overhead cranes safely and in compliance with OSHA, ANSI/ASME, and CSA standards.
Organized into four progressive modules, the program builds from overhead crane fundamentals and equipment knowledge through to safe operation, load handling, and rigging. Each module concludes with a knowledge assessment to confirm comprehension and understanding before allowing operators to advance to the next module.

The overhead crane operator safety training program is designed in alignment with the following overhead crane standards and regulatory requirements:
- OSHA 29 CFR 1910.179 – Overhead and gantry cranes
- ASME B30.2 – Overhead and Gantry cranes
- CSA B167 – Overhead cranes, gantry cranes, monorails, hoists, and jib cranes
Practical Training Component
It’s important to note that in order to completely satisfy the requirements of the standards, workplace and equipment-specific training must be completed by the employer, along with a practical evaluation. These workplace training components cannot be completed by any third-party provider, whether they offer online or live training. The reason for this is that each workplace is different and poses unique hazards. An employer is best suited to train workers on these unique circumstances that exist within their workplace and their specific equipment.
